The issue I have with it is that 95% of the time when people do it they proceed to make a right turn 100 m up the road. Why did they have to cut me off just to go up the road and make a right?

I've actually found Texans (at least in rural Texas) to be good courteous drivers. I'm not from Texas and honestly don't personally know anyone who is but I've found that more often than not they will pull over to let you pass if you are wanting to go a bit faster. That doesn't happen here where I live.
