Looking at this car: http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4223411349.html

Aside from the awful wagon wheels, it has hail damage that looks pretty serious. I really don't care too much honestly, but am still curious to see if it could be fixed via PDR. If so, how much? Yes, I know the car has a salvage title...

Can it? Sure. It's probably going to run at least $750, maybe $1000 just for the roof...and with that amount of dents it may not come out exactly right. If that's the roof, the hood is probably trashed, as well as the tops of the fenders. Insurance company probably totaled it because they wrote it for conventional repair due to amount of hail damage. If you wanted that car, I'd probably just drive it as is.

My miata looks like that, I am figuring on replacing the hood/trunklid being cheaper than PDR.

Prove me wrong, please...

Find the cleanest possible ZXW around, transfer all the SVT goodies over, drive.

One of my Miatas is that way also, though not as severe as that Focus. I've never bothered with it and never planned to. I've been perfectly happy with my golf ball.

I am chalking it up to a lesson on watching what trees I park under (Damn hickory nuts!). It already had dented fenders, so this just makes me care less about fixing the cosmetics.

Might actually think about it some years down the road, probably not.

Hey, brother's Miata was also hail damaged when he bought it. In the end, he got a killer deal on PDR for the hood. I believe the guy was at a Miata event and looking to stay busy. For the trunk, we found a lid in the right color on miata.net.

I guess if I can get it for around $2k, it really doesn't matter. I can spend my money on more important things like new wheels/tires.

That is a pretty steep dimple discount. I'd confirm that the hail damage was what totaled it out, though.

If it was just hail damage, I would buy the car, not worry one second about the body and drive the snot out of it.

NASA also tested it back in the 60's... but i trust the Mythbusters more, even if their test involved adding a thousand pounds of clay to a Taurus..

Whats PDR?

Paintless dent removal. It's pretty slick. In summary, they use special tools and push the dent out from the inside. No bondo, no respray. Much cheaper than conventional repair, too.

Maybe I am a cheap bastard but I wouldn't bother fixing it. It doesn't effect how it drives...

Looks like the previous owner may have went themselves while driving it.
