Has anyone here worked on a Ferrari 308? I've heard that the timing belt can be accessed from the wheel well without pulling the engine. I'd swear that someone here owned one and did his own maintenance, but there none listed in Reader's Rides.
Just wondering at this point...
That's right, just pull the fender well. Not an easy job but not too bad when I actually did it 32 yrs. ago.
Do you need a lift or can it be done on jack stands?
I have only helped but it seemed easier to pull the motor IMO. The 355 can be done the same way and it is allegedly easier.
I say that because if you are doing belts, you should be doing water pumps and clutch at about the same time.
Can be done through the wheel well, but you have to take the AC compressor out to do it. We did it on jack stands.

It helps if you're wearing some short shorts and a tigers hat while working on the car. A moustache doesn't hurt either.
Is the engine removed from above or below?

All I did was change shocks on one so I dunno....but I think it prolly comes out easier from below.

And a Hawaiin shirt. Just beware of the dogs . . .
all I can say is no.. I have never worked on a 308. That said, I would love to
It seems that people who own them and want to wrench on them tend to get plenty of practise, at least if my manager's 328 is anything to go by. And yes, he bought the best one he could find.

TC was the one who did the maintenance, not Thomas.
Sheesh, get your classic '80s TV right, will ya?
Can install tearoffs and paint protect and graphics otherwise no help
My experience with ferraris is all front engine. Can't see myself ever working on one of those, but it is good to know you can remove the fender liner to delete the AC.
