I want to make sure I understand this. A venue increased the charge to drive there, and a bunch of internet people sabotaged the grounds to harm competitors' cars and cited safety reasons while bringing down the venue's rating?
I don't understand the causality.
The Gauntlet is the company that handles renting the mall parking lot to autocross groups. They rent to SCCA, Porsche club, and the Corvette club among others. I think it is the only real venue in the Jacksonville city limits. It is a standard mall lot with a healthy dose of light poles and curbs. Most courses are in the 25 second range.
Here is an sample course I found on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jt3f6Xqx5Y
A small asphalt lot with a real risk of people attempting to use it as a parking lot during an event (this actually happened) made it a marginal site at best. I believe the Gauntlet raised the rates to match the concrete runway the SCCA also runs and the group said bye. Apparently not tactfully enough. Heat up some popcorn and take a look at The Gauntlet's facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GauntletJAX. Some pretty dumb stuff from both sides in the comments and reviews sections. It does make that racing news article look more than a little one sided.

I am embarrassed to be a bucaneer region member l. Granted I haven't autocrossed in a year but this is ridiculous...
