1 through 5: GM Detroit Diesel 2 cycle.  Pick any configuration from small pump to locomotive for the enumerations.  Study that design and you’ll understand it was the work of true genius.  A simple and completely scalable design.  And yes, they can be turbo’d for more power.

Any list that doesn't contain GM LS in some variation is invalid.

I love me a Nissan RB though.

1) Ford Kent (and all the associated engines that were born from it: Lotus TC, Cosworth MAE, BDA, etc)

2) Toyota 4AGE

3) RR Merlin 

4) Jaguar XK6

5) Toss up between Cosworth DFV and Coventry Climax FW series

All are iconic engines that made a huge impact on the automotive community and I hope to have a vehicle powered by each one some day. 
Not that anyone asked, but my car list using above would be:

1. Mk 1 Morris Mini 850 and/or Mk 1 Austin Healey Sprite
2. Pre-1966 VW Bug or Bus or a Formula Vee
3. 1929 plain, old school Hot Rod. (NOT a rat rod, NOT a flashy 80's car.)
4. 1986 Civic Si with a B16A
5. GMT400 2-door Tahoe 2wd with a 6.0 LS

I like your Pratt and Whitney 2800 with its WW2 connection  but I have to go with the Wright 1820 I used for well over 1000 hours of flight time in my Grumman S2E

No slight intended it just does stuff like that to me sometimes. I don't know how to correct it.

I need clarification of which XK 6  The 4.2 used from 1972-1987 based on the Iron block design of WW2 rooftop creation or the more Modern XK6 using the all aluminum 4 valve per cylinder 4.0? 
My sentimental favorite is the 4.2 but for reliability efficiency  and power the nod has to go with the 4.0
