In reply to Tom_Spangler: It's a good article, and explains everything, including why GM just named it the SS.

$13k Caprice PPV

I had no idea they were out there. I guess that is the "cheaper" version.

It's too bad, because being able to buy a 6-speed manual sedan with a supercharged 5.0 coyote that runs flat 12's in good air with traction is pretty neat.

Ford will have stopped Australian made cars in October 2016. There will be no more new Falcons after this year.

Yep. No manual trans but I just found one for $10k with 50k miles as a 2013. So... $10k gets you a RWD GM LSx V8 that has a ton of parts bin parts available for upgrades? Ummm.... crap. Looks like I'm getting divorced soon.

I mean, it looks good:

Given how far along GM automatics have come and the torque available to turn the gears, I'm not sure a lack of manual transmission is the heartache it is on some other cars.

The one I drove had automatic trans. It impressed me. Auto is fine with me because I ain't young & my left knee seems to be 10 years older than the rest of me.

If I could afford it, I'd love to have one with a manual.

Someone in my office building daily drives a manual example. He even puts snow tires on it for the winter. His snows go on bland tire store rims and when outfitted that way, I would bet 99/100 people would walk by it thinking it's a Malibu.

Just seems odd that GM doesn't put one iota into marketing the thing. I've read articles that liken the manual version to the E39 M5. I went to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year, and they didn't even put one on display... I asked one of the "representatives" (or whatever you call them) if they had one there and she said no. When I asked why, she was like, "I dunno, but they might make it for one more year". Ok.

Heh, I had the exact same experience at the NAIAS, I even asked, too.

Did any other "fleets" get the Caprice? Or was it police only? Didn't see any on Autotrader so it appears they were not sold to the public, but curious as to how one might procure one of these.
