Paging teamilluminata...

There used to be a series at a asphalt oval near Flint (Detroit region holds rallycrosses there on a back field, now) where the course would be part of the inside oval, part of the outside oval, part of the X in the middle, and part of the grass next to the course.

The key was, the event was run elimination style, cars starting and finishing 180 degrees apart on the course, and whoever STOPPED in their start box first was the winner.

It was an absolute blast!  Way more fun than running for time, and having a complete stop at the end made it extra exciting.  As did jumping over the hill to get from the outside loop to the inside smiley

If you ask how a GT-R was in the US in 2009... Canada is right next door.  There was also a Pulsar GTi-R in attendance at a few events, and I dearly want one of those machines.

The BMW was a 325xi, and the Legacy had a flat six engine swap... shades of things to come.

Riding along in a 924s on A6s made me a believer in autocross tires.  And they gave up nothing on dirt.

Years ago my college car club had an autocross series which I helped organize.  It was cheap (free actually) and fun, organized to draw students in.  We ran events at all kinds of venues, usually parking lots.  I remember one event at Auto City Speedway near Flint MI which was totally a hoot. It was basically the big oval with a chicane.  I don't remember how I did in my car, but I clearly remember that every time I drove my friend's T-bird Super Coupe I spun the thing in the chicane.  I just couldn't re-program my brain for that car and that chicane, or maybe I was just having too much fun.

It was a morning event.  As we were leaving all the "real racers" were lined up to enter with their beater stock cars.

Yes, the local car club usually has one or more events at NCCAR.

Here is an older video of me driving very poorly at that venue.
