Those oddball 7-lug F150s, what does the GRM crowd think about them?

I found a 2012 3.5EB truck in my price range and I noticed it had been on the dealers lot for while, might be a good deal. Its a standard cab, 8ft bed, but XLT so it doesn't look like a base model work truck. What I don't know much about is the "Heavy Duty Payload Upgrade Pack" as Ford calls it on their spec sheet. Does that automatically mean it is a max-tow truck too? Are there a lot of one-off parts on the heavy duty trucks? Do they ride like an unloaded one ton? What is the easy button for more power on a 3.5 EcoBoost?

Not a fan of the seven lug nuts.

Dumbest thing since dog sweaters.

More power for a 3.5EB? Have you driven one?

Drugggggggggg...

Not quite the same but drive one and you will see its legit so long as you take care of it.

I didn't know they kept making the 7 lug deal after the 1997-2003 generation. Figured they had learned their lesson.

Power with the 3.5EB isn't much of an issue, but a tune will pull a decent bit more out of one. Even in a 5600 lb truck, those things aren't slow. And the power comes on like a diesel that learned how to rev.

They've offered it on every gen since. Usually comes with an extra few hundred pounds of payload capacity. Can't remember if they all get max tow or not though.

i also didnt know they still made 7 lug trucks. on the 97-03's they basically consisted of the 3/4 ton trans and axle(s) and a heavier frame. the really only unique part about them was everything in relation to the 7 lugs. Not sure if that is still all true for this new of truck though
