What has a 304 V8, is a "Sport Wagon", has a tan leather interior with an orange stripe, and only cost $200?
P71's new 78 Concord Wagon! It's a parts car for the Hornet. Anybody need parts? I drove it home (mostly). I had to be push-bumpered off the freeway 3 miles from home when it quit and then tow-strapped to my neighborhood (by a different cop car, but I got it to re-fire and drove it into the driveway (where the Hornet refused to start, again).
I'm brining down property values everywhere I go...
I am still waiting for the announcement of your AMX purchase
If I could afford an AMX, I would, but I can't. Stupid house/savings/no debt/fiscally responsible life... grumble grumble...
Anyways, the Concord is a 78 Wagon, and is some sort of designer edition (like the Pierre Cardin Javelin's), I just haven't figured out which yet. The interior is a medium tan leether with a brown and orange stripe running through it. The car itself has 106K on it, is a 304 V8 / 904 Auto with a Model 20 rear end. It has power front disc brakes, power steering, A/C (rare!), and cruise control (that works! Unheard of!!!).
The plan is to strip the snot out of the Concord for the Hornet. The wagon and coupe actually share a wheelbase, so the 304/904/20 powertrain will all bolt in to the Hornet as will the front discs and the good windshield. Everything I pull off the Hornet will be sold, and everything left on this ugly mother will be sold off as well. I then plan on sawing out the rockers and floor (and possibly lower 1/4's) to fix the Hornet's.
So I should be able to save my car and make some money. Here's hoping!

Gucci Edition as I recall...
I know it was the Pierre Cardin Javelin, Oleg Cassini Matador, and Levi's Gremlin. I think you're right, it may be the Gucci Concord. Google is failing me...
Im with toyman, pics or it doesnt exist
Ok, lets explore possibilities here.
1.Wagons are cool.
2.The Concord sounds like its solider than the Hornet.
3.You have sheetmetal repair to do on the Hornet.
Taking the above information, I conclude it would be no more work to move the B-pillar back on the Concord, install the Hornet doors and front sheet metal, and have an Uber rare 2 door Hornet Gucci edition wagon.
Just sayin...

I agree. Add your monster V8 to the wagon and go trolling for Mustangs. Save the Hornet for another time/commuter duty.
i vote for the V8 wagon sleeper also
The image does not support a sleeper wagon (but I do).
It does support the AMC trend going on around here though.
That Stinger model is the exact body as my Hornet (unfortunately it's rarer than an honest politician so I haven't gotten one yet).
I am thinking about the wagon over the Hornet though. I'm gonna give it some thought...
Wagons are even more awesome sleepers than P71s.
Come to the dark side.

That's so full of cool! Love the stripes and the fastback. Mmmmm
I'm thinking about keeping the wagon instead. It runs and drives better, has less rust, is a rarer model, and is already equipped (V8, front discs). It's still under 3000 Lbs too.
Kind of an ugly little sucker though. I need a Spirit AMX or a Javelin...
Kind of an ugly little sucker though
Wheels, stance, and tint will fix that.
A colour change wouldn't hurt, either.

Ugly is good. Original is good. Add fastness=WIN!
Wheels and some suspension magic would rock, just don't go too low. Keep the tint mild. Get some widened steelies to stick under those hubcaps for the ultimate sleeper. Keep the exhaust quiet too. That way the lumpy cam just makes it sound like it doesn't run for E36 M3 and must be bog slow
I would rock a set of the 17" Magnum 500's with some 24/45zr17 and relax the altitude a little bit. Reupholster a pair of Cobra buckets to match to OE pattern. Add some serious brakes, and install a bit more power.
Nothing says AMC interior like an AMC interior.
Nice find!!
Sounds like the consensus is junk the rusty 2-door Hornet and race the 4-door Concord wagon. Sometimes I wonder about you guys...
my family had one when I was a tot, the dark vinyl murdered my legs in the summer...ahh memories
