Ford will give you a 5.0L Aluminator for $15k from authorized distributors. 500hp.
Chevy will give you a LS9 out of the ZR-1 Vette for $22k direct from GM, 638hp
Now Mopar has done gone and offered the Hellcat engine (link to Car and Driver, mopar site is down or maybe not up yet [404 error]) for $19,530, 707hp.
All engines require separate control systems which are around $2k.
The ICE may be in its twilight years, but she sure is singing one hell of a swan song!
As a great swap candidate... just saying.

What Chrysler lacks in volume behind Ford and GM, they make up with sheer insanity. Some things never change.
That's a dead reliable, OEM engineered 707 hp, with a warranty. Would it be blasphemy to put one under the hood of a Cobra roadster?
In reply to nderwater :
More power an more compact package than a Viper V10...would that be blasphemy? Given Mr SueEverybody, I mean Mr. Shelby did a round a Chrysler, I think it would be in the spirit of a Cobra roadster. After all, that is all he made the Viper to be, a modern Cobra.
EDIT: I just noticed Hennessey does a very simple performance upgrade on these cars. "HPE800 Hellcat Challenger
The base package from Hennessey for the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the HPE800 package, which offers 805 horsepower and 6,200rpm. This increased power output is achieved by adding a new engine control unit, a high flow air filter, a bottom pulley upgrade and a port matched throttle body. This setup allows for better air flow and 1-2 more pounds of boost while the ECU upgrade allows Hennessey to optimize the engine output to 805 horsepower with very minimal modifications."
Am I the only one who wants to put one behind the driver in a Dodge Minivan? I mean if we're going to be insane, we might as well go all out.

Can't be any worse than my new plan for my old volare.
I think the answer for these are boats. followed by drinking/partying
How big are these compared to say a 5.0L Coyote? I know they're a fair bit bigger than something based on the LS architecture, but if it's smaller than the Coyote I could see building an FFR Coupe or Roadster around one.

It's not as big as a Coyote, search shows 29" wide for Coyote and 24" wide for Hemi (car, truck lists 26" wide). Should fit about the same as an LS, except height is a bit more of course.

By my current vehicle assessment, I need three of them.
I doubt my mom will complain too awful much about losing some space in her minivan.
In typical Chrysler fashion, they aren't as on the stick with support either.
I just called for installation drawings for the crate engines, ANY of them. They couldn't find them. They are not on their website either. The rep said he would look and email me them if he could find anything.
It's bad when you don't have how big and heavy an engine is when you are the guys building and selling the car.
For the record, Ford and GM both give this information upon request.

I hadn't thought of placing three of them nose-tail before, but I guess with an IRS in the back of a minivan, you could probably manage it in front of the rear axle. Maybe a V drive would enable you to place the rearward engine directly above the rear end.
OH! Did you mean in three seperate vehicles? How boring.

I never thought I'd live to see the day where a mass-production OEM engine could hit 800 hp with just an ECU flash and simple intake mods. This truly is a golden age of horsepower.

The pulley swap sounds like the biggest part of that hp increase to me. But point taken, it's pretty neat.
Hmmm... The current engine swaps (HEMI, Cummins, etc.) for the JK Wrangler are around $20k.
When (not if) the Pentastar poofs, this would be a fun swap.

If the Coyote fits, I bet the Hellcrate will also fit.
It's a good time to have bare frame rails. It would be a better time if I had bare frame rails with money stacked on top of them.
I have my hypothetical home for it picked out.
I think I'm a bit boring.

Obviously, if I put them all in my moms van she gets to have all the fun.

Ford wasn't so clever right after they introduced the Ecoboost crates either. This is a SEMA show press release, and the timeframe was dictated by the show date. They might not have all their ducks in a row quite yet.
