Welcome!
What's your goal with the Miata?
I see you mention a potential motor swap, that's interesting. Have you swapped a motor before and are familiar with the costs?
Hi, i slowly want to convert my miata into an autox, circuit track car.
Starting with coilovers, sway bars, wheels the essentials. Then my next step is aero, fenders flares, side skirts, front splitter, etc.. I want to keep the stock 1.8 stock, maybe just an intake, exhaust, and headers for now.
My plan for the motor is a naturally aspirated setup. I own a s13 sr20det block already. I plan on building it with 12.5.1 pistons, new bearings, eagle rods, and maybe an 87 mm overbore.
Next i want to use a neo vvl sr20 head.
Im sure your familiar with a neo vvl head but i will explain. They are very similiar to hondas vtec. With a computer control cam lift phase. These heads flow extremely well. Up in to the high 300's when prepped for racing. I can also retain street driveablilty from the low cam.
Anyways, i want to mate the two together creating a high compression vvl monster. A kit exist to do this, sold from mazworx who specializes in this.
I discovered mounts and an oil pan specifically designed for the miata from thai phoon of australia. Very expensive but the work is top notch. And mate it to a 6 speed transmission.
Along with a standalone ecu, custom headers, and itb's
This is going to be very expensive, and turboing the bp is way more cost effective. And this is going to take a very long time, purchasing parts at different times. I can wait though because i want to practice with a slower engine at first.
I have swapped a 20v blacktop into an ae86 and helped friends with vtec swaps in there hondas. I know this will be fairly expensive but i will appreciate the car alot more, plus no one will have the same setup and maybe i can pave the way for other people to do the same. It will deffinently be fast and reliable.
