I apologize for this being a first post, but I'm building an older Legacy for RallyX, endurance, and maybe before if budget stays under, the $2000 challenge.

That aside, I'm looking for a distributor that would have a very short shaft. The EJ22s can use an 1982ish Ford Escort distributor on the right head to convert to a carb, however the current powerplant that is in proposed usage is an EG33, which essentially is an EJ22 with two extra cylinders. The benefit to the EG33 is that it has the same right bank adaptation to use a distributor, but I'm striking out trying to find an off the shelf distributor similar to the Escort distributor but for 6-cylinders. I've supplied a pic of the distributor and an EJ22 adaptation for reference.

I would say most Japanese V6s had distributors mounted like that.

I would also say that they all sucked and for the effort spent to adapt, it'd be easier to find a way to use something like an EDIS and a low end Megasquirt.

What you appear to be looking for is a *distributor* with mechanical and vacuum advance and all those other goodies.  I have a feeling that any 6 cylinder distributors you might find are just a cap, rotor, and a position sensor, requiring a computer to dictate spark timing.  If you are going to do that, may as well just eliminate the distributor...
