Hello,
Posting for a family member that just bought his second porsche boxster. He doesn't like the Remus exhaust on it. I suggested he give it some time before disposing of it. Looking at it I can't see how to quiet it down without just swapping the cat back system back to stock.
How rare are 987 OEM exhaust?
Is there a go to place for metro Detroit porsche exhaust work?
I cannot imagine that they are rare. Mine will be coming off this spring but, unfortunately, I need to keep it incase I get caught missing 2 of 4 cats and need to put it back on.
TONS of folk swap theirs out for high performance even when they do not need a new one.
Might try some aftermarket guys though I doubt they hold onto them.
Try a salvage yard. At worst hit https://www.ladismantler.com/ up for one.
Tons of them on eBay all the time. LAdismantker uscreputable too. I bought a 996 cluster from them for my 986.

Does he actually need it installed, or just the parts? Despite its name Pacific motors is a Porsche dismantler on the north side of Detroit. They sell a lot on eBay and mostly have decent prices. They might have something. Doubt they (or any dismantler) would install though.
Rennstat Racing (Arbor Motion) Automotive Techniques, Munk's Motors, Orion Automotive are all known Porsche shops in the area that may be able to assist.
Can +1 to Munk's, and have heard good things about Arbor Motion.
See if there's a local Porsche FB page and post a WTB ad. I have a 981 stock exhaust just sitting in my shed because whatever price I would get for it wouldn't justify the trouble of boxing it up and shipping it. I think there's a bunch of people like me out there.
Stay away from Munks. They totally messed up the ppi on my 944 turbo. As far as I'm concerned they don't know diddly about fixing Porsche's
Your friend might add an ISO post on rennlist, pelicanparts or planet-9, since a number of those guys are likely to have a stock exhaust in their garage.
I sold my stock 986s muffler on pelican.

Thanks for the list I forwarded to him.

He isn't an"old" uncle but can't get the feel of if he is online savvy. I will ask him if he linked up with any sites. He 100% is just a guy that likes porsche driving 0% performance/autox/race/track day oriented. Despite my urging.

He needs both and I am not in a position to help him right now otherwise it would be something I could handle installing with him.
