The cost of the brake pads and rotors for the cayenne are actually pretty cheap. Tires, well not so much.
The ship gave the cayenne a pretty glowing review, said the owner took very good care of it.
I've left a vm for the owner, want to talk to him about price. Still waiting for him to get back to me, I'd like to get it for no more than $21k.
Looks like I can get the BMW for $23k, my friend is going to check it out for me tomorrow afternoon
Well, the decision got made for me. The owner of the Cayenne was asking almost $6k over book for his truck and wasn't willing to accept my offer of $1500-2000 over book.
Then my friend who has a wholesale car license noticed that the BMW was listed on one of the wholesale auction sites. We put our heads together and he was able to buy it for me for a few thousand less than what the dealer was willing to sell it to me at "retail". Price with the fees turns out to be a little bit below retail book value, but I'm very pleased.
Now I need to figure out transporting the car from the dealer in Northborough to my tranport guy in Concord NH

Sweet. I've been drooling over these for quite awhile now so it'll be interesting to hear what it's like to own one.
Good choice. The Cayenne just doesn't look like an engaging drive. Not many BMW wagons left out there so might as well drive it now while you can..!
I'm a bit freaked about buying the car sight unseen, but service history and carfax are clean...
Well, the dealer is trying to screw me over. They're refusing to deliver the car to the auction house, claiming that the car sold to someone else before the auction ended.
That's complete and utter BS, as they were going to take the car to my friend for an inspection several hours AFTER the auction ended and they never said anything.
To say that I'm upset right now is a massive understatement. I've already arranged for transport and bought airline tix for the transport guy to get him back home.
To say nothing of the fact that I'm not going to be able to find another one of these for sale to buy...
DAMMITTT!!!!!
You know, one of us could at least bust them for the auction thing if you were so kind to give us the dealership information and let one of us call/email them to see if it is still there.
Yep, I've seen that white one listed. Too bad it's $5,500 more than what I thought I'd bought the other one for.
I've already had my friend call the dealership and they're not interested in wholesaling the car. That means that once I factor in transport to me, tax, title and tags, it's most likely out of my price range.
I'll call the dealer anyways and make an offer, worst they can say is no.
Obligatory suggestion: you were looking at a VAG product and a BMW wagon product. How about a VAG wagon way under your price point, spend a bit on maintenance and upgrades and have the best of both worlds?
Allroad goodness
I've already had a stage 3 6MT allroad. While it's a nice car, I don't want another one!
