The 'stang I recently picked up unfortunately has some discoloration/staining/mystery gunk on/in the paint. I was originally thinking it might be tree sap that was left on the surface too long but Im not 100% sure what it is. What I do know, is that the early attempts to clean it off are not going well.
So far we have tried-
Simple Green
Wax and Tar remover
Goof Off
Orange Cleaner
WD-40
Bonami powder
None of the cleaners seemed to make much of a difference except for the Bonami, but it was a only a very slight improvement.
Thoughts on what to try next?
There is some on all sides of the car but here is a sample
Look up the Freiburger detail, he had a specific method of getting that stuff off of old paint.

Don't laugh. This stuff got rid of that kind of discoloration and made my trucklet 3 shades brighter.
Magic erasure? I'd try it on that just to see if it works...
I always go to rubbing or polishing compound as an early approach. Usually works with wet clothes and patience.

His Comet method inspired the Bonami powder. I may step it up to Comet if it comes to that.
