I have posted in a number of various threads about tow rig setups, rvs, things you can tow and sleep in. The reality is most the interesting options I would entertain my wife is against, even if its just because something seems more expensive or "too big"
She has said no to:
Modified ambulance tow rig
Huge 5th wheels
Diesel Pushers/Busses
She is keen on the idea to upgrade our camper because we want more space and isolation from kids, beds we don't have to put up and take down, more storage inside and outside the camper. I would really prefer a motorhome because I want to be able to also tow my miata and stay at race tracks and she is also sort of biased towards parking more vehicles (IE camp trailer+tow vehicle+car trailer, vs MH+trailer) The most appealing option for me right now is a bunk house motorhome class C or class A gas. It seems like this puts you at the limits of size of class C (all 31-32ft) which is also where they land for class A (32-35ft) but the class A gets the jockey boxes and seems to be able to be found with full body paint.
They seem to all depreciate about the same amount at the point I am looking (about 7-10yrs old and 50k or less)
I can't say so far that I particular enjoy driving and towing, but don't know if driving a motorhome is any better or worse. Am I crazy for wanting to go the MH route with where our family is? The other route would be cheap tow rig+enclosed with AC+family camp trailer but I would have to be pay for a storage spot for each one of those (about 50 a month each)
Anyone here have any experience with the bunk house motorhomes?
Dads selling a class c (i think) motorhome. Gas. 32ish foot. I can viuch its solid and comfortable. And just came back from utah. Pulling a flat towed tracker.
Might be the droid youre looking for.

I really want the bunkbeds in the rear so we can put kids to bed without giving up the ability to do something else/enter exit the RV. And I don't think my wife is willing to make the cabover/sofa our main sleeping area. This limits us a lot on the bunk house models. It sucks to have to put your kids to bed at 7-8pm and essentially be quiet/go to bed at the same time.

Maybe I should just get a truck/burban/excursion and hook up one of these to it its a 5000 btu doghouse AC unit to make sleeping in it bearable in the south? I hear using the car AC is a no no for sleeping stationary

If you get an RV of any sort, do yourself a favor and get a copy of your states commercial drivers liscense manual and read through all the sections. If you stay under 26000 GCW, you don't need a CDL unless the motor home has air brakes, in which case you will. But, driving something that size, especially with a trailer behind it, Is vastly different than any pickup truck and trailer setup. Also, I highly reccomend against a gas motor RV for towing stuff, they just don't have enough grunt to do the job and tend to be built on chassis that aren't up to the task. You also want brakes on every axle of your trailer instead of just one, you don't want any extra mass that the RV brakes have to stop.
