Ok... for now I've decided against getting the Caddy that is being dangled in front of my nose. Sure, its a fresh reman, but it has stock rods, pistons, and heads. I'd be in for re-remaning it just to make it take the power. If I'm going to do that, I'll start with a $300 core instead of a $1500 reman.

I'm headed to the swap meet tomorrow. Maybe I'll get some inspiration.

You are totally in a different league from me. For me, anything with more than 4L of displacement is big. 3.5 is pretty big on its own.

Anyway, just to add to the chorus, I'd say supercharged LS motor.

Curtis, I don't blame you for passing on a rebuilt Caddy if you plan to rip out its guts and do it over anyway. I still think that's the cheapest, most different way without being so difficult as to be expensive. It's also cheaper than a big block (though not the aluminum block version I proposed earlier). Keep an eye out. Remember, many a machinist has said "God hates a 632", but I've never been sure why. You might be able to find an old drag car 596, 555 or 540 for cheap though. You could also go the 455 route, but that's giving up a lot of cubes and originality, and I'm not sure how big you can get them.

While searching alloy big blocks I came across this:

That is 14 challenge cars and a dozen of Guidos foamy noses...

There are RWD transmissions that will fit, I will look it up tonight.

the only thing I can think of is the new 6sp manual and auto combos for the '11 v6 stang, I'd bet the bellhousing hasn't changed any. Other than that, I know of no rwd "non-transaxle" transmissions for the duratec.

Also, I was thinking the rossion Q1 was still using the 3.0L, and the new direction noble was taking was using the volvo v8(which mearly has yamaha heads, like the gen 3 sho's 3.4L v8)

Edit: For the rossion Q1 *Engine Aluminum block 3.0L V-6/ Forged internals, twin ball bearing, liquid cooled garrett Turbocharged.

Not a v8....I think thats the new noble m600

you have the manuals from lincoln ls's and you have the rwd manual from the jaguar i think it was x-type or s-type

but autowise i dont know of one that would handle 400 plus never mind 600 plus hp. i think 350 would be pushing it even on the new mustang tranny. afaik the new 3.5 and 3.7 do share the bellhousing however... so that would be a option.

Checked on the Rossion and Noble and you are correct. I forgot that Noble himself left noble and has headed up Rossion.

I went to the swap meet today in Austin for inspiration. All I can say is, I miss growing up in Carlisle. Now THEY know how to do a swap meet.
