1995 C-1500 5.7 (TBI).  Pickup coil should be 500-1500 ohms.  Is this right, that it's way low?  I've ran all thru the settings on my meter.  Now at 2K.

Looks like it's showing 0.815 ohms, although it's unusual for a meter to display numbers to the 1/1000th of an ohm in the 2kohm range. To be sure, put it in the 200ohm range and see if it shows the same thing. If you get an error instead, the resistance is over 200ohms, maybe 815ohms, which is in the acceptable range for that coil.

Does this mean 8 ohms?

Oops, bad pic.  Meter on the 200k scale

20k scale shows .815

That is .815 K ohms, so its 815 ohms, probably.  If you go down to the 200 ohm scale, it should show infinite resistance.

The meter would be better if it showed the unit on the screen.

I needed a new car and rotor, and the goop off the back of the factory module (265k, tested good) was non-existent, so I just splurged for a new distributor. $89 after tax.  The new pickup coil tested right at 10x the ohms of the old one.  I forgot to take a pic.  Put it in and the truck fired right up.

Now my timing light isn't working, so I just set it by ear.  It was a freebie, so I can't complain.
