Because it sounds like a diesel tractor and has the sex appeal of a watermelon-sized cold sore?
I'd almost think you were talking about my turbo mopars..
But even those aren't bassackwards enough to use a cast-iron head!
I was thinking more like SHO V6,
Now you're talkin... SHO v6 + megasquirt (plug and play available, iirc) and a turbo is pretty much the cheapest way to get THAT amount of power from any of these engine swaps unless you go to a nearly-unstreetable setup on a home-built carb small-block... which still MIGHT be more expensive.
I vote 5.0 ford.
Oddly enough (I've heard) they're actually a bit lighter than an iron head, turbo 2.3 and nothing compares to that deep rumble. They should be very affordable with EVERYONE going LS swap crazy these days. Go fast bits are dirt cheap too.
Some may argue that 5.0 swaps have been done to death but there's a reason it's so popular.

Mercury marine engine with the boss 9 head and a 4-71 supercharger. All sexy and exotic at the same time. Plus the block has a chevy bellhousing pattern so you can retro a six speed for cheap.
2.3 lima with this and a holset?...
hehe, volvo head and a hx35....
I rode in an xr4ti the last autox I went to. I love the sound of the 2.3T.
SHO would be a fun swap. The zetec is a common mini stock swap.
How about 1.8 bp from a miata and add a turbo? He could even get the valve cover off of an escort gt.
Ellis Juan with T56 and a BMW suspension swap

Or a Kia Sephia for all the lulz.
Oh... speaking of Kia...
How about a 1st gen 2.0 DOHC Sportage motor? They can take boost.
