Is there anyone who is able to help me find a specific tire?
I want to find the narrowest 15" tire that is speed rated Y and weight rated 87 or above.
When I find smaller Y rated tire and then go to a smaller diameter, the speed rating typical drops to W. I am not good at finding stuff. The best I found was a 205/45ZR17 91Y. That is too tall.
Thank you for your help.
15 or 17”? You mentioned both sizes.
The smallest 17” ones i found that aren’t specifically intended as drag front runners are 165/40/17 V rated but that sounds too wide for a 4” wheel if you’re trying to do what I think you are. I have successfully mounted one to a 4.5” wheel but it was a bear. Called the Economist atr-k. They fit the modern 17x5 aluminum mustang spares very nicely
My goal is to find a Y rated 15 inch narrow tire. I shared the 17 inch as an example of what I could fine. However, when I put in the same tire information but with a smaller rim diameter, the speed rating drops to a W.
if I have to go to a 16 or 17 inch rim, I have to buy them. If I can find something that's 15 inch, I already own muliple sets.

Are you planning to use the limits of the speed rating?
The speed rating is for something like four hours of continuous use at the rated speed before the tire is allowed to overheat and fail
.
Basically, the idea is that it has to survive the worst case scenario of going out with a full fuel tank and running at that speed until the tank is empty and you have to stop for a while.
Most drag race "frontrunner" tires are rated S (112mph) or not rated at all.
So far the best not wide 15” tire we can find is p-zero at 86y in 205/50
i’d be on a similar mission as Mr Nelson if things had not moved from Ohio to Arkansas a few years ago. But Gainesville is our one far racing trip this year and into the future until drag week loops around us again, and I have a co-pilot lined up for that.

....a tad pricey.
And not DOT. I am trying to meet the rules of a class.
This is a stretch, no pun intended, but what about a...motorcycle tire?
The car will be 3800-4000#.

That’s not too much heavier than a pair of full-dresser Harleys, is it?
In reply to Javelin :
That's rated for 130 mph and would not meet the class requirements.

What are the class requirements?
