For me it's too angular and too low. Really needs more curves and more space between the body and ground.
Excellent concept, ghastly execution. One would think a more sensible designer could come up with a far more appealing homage, rather than this Radwood escapee abomination.
There may be a superficial resemblance, but only just.
History has shown that body kits meant to make car A look like car B hardly ever work.
I'm not sure that's kind to either the Miata or the Cosmo. Definitely a high-effort tribute though. You cannot deny the commitment.

I don't know why someone can't create a good looking kit car. It's seems like it would be really easy. Just copy the angle and curves you see in person. That guy that built a 1:1 Diablo replica did it.
