This is WAY OUT OF THE BOX, and a bit wacky, but, just wondering aloud, could one reinforce a rod to make it much stronger by welding a section of rebar to it.

Realizing that won't affect the strength of the big or small end, could you get a stronger rod so easily? Yes, I know, heavier rotating mass and all that.

I'd like to submit exhibit "B" for consideration.

It gets good about halfway down the page.

In reply to 93celicaGT2: The piston literally exploded. Never seen that one before. Over on the classic side, there was video of a guy who blew the engine on his MGA(?) with post-mortum pics, too. Very impressive carnage also: connecting rods a flying.

Did you ever think that the current owner was none to nice to this engine either?

This was its first outing. I'm not saying we're nice to engines, but an engine should be able to handle a shot or two of nitrous before blowing the berkeley up like this.

This is the scariest thing I have ever seen, especially because there is a half done engine in my garage

Was this a wet or dry nitrous kit?

It was a 75-shot wet kit. We verified both solenoids were firing, and the system worked as advertised.

Looks like you guys are going to need the JB weld value pack! Do they sell it at Costco?
