BIL is wanting to replace the ruined seats in his wife's 1995 Miata and has found a set of seats from a 1999. Will these bolt in without modification?

Thanks for any help with this..

The seat will interchange easily, BUT there are variations in how the seat belt receivers are mounted in various model years. Check that out carefully. If the '95 receivers are mounted to the tunnel or the rear of the track only it's easy, just use the tracks currently in the car and bolt them to the '99 seats. Some years had the receiver bolt to the front of the seat pan and you would need to swap seat pans, but even that isn't all that hard.In my experience the '99 seats are the least comfortable of any NA or NB seats, I've taken my 99s out and used some early NA seats. Your experience may vary.

The seats will bolt, you'll have to play with seatbelts, and those seats are the worst.

95 seats in a 99 are awesome.

Hmmmmm, my '97 would love better seats. What year seats would be an actual improvement?

  • 95M with separate headrest. Those also came as standard in Europe in different colors and can be found on Ebay from overseas salvage yards
  • NB2 seats, preferably cloth

Early NA seats had a longer cushion than the later NAs, which have the same cushion as 99 NBs. I've got early NA seats in my 99 NB and I've even modified those to get more comfortable.
