My company pays 42.5 cents per mile, so even with the Volvo I will be doing okay. But seeing that I will be driving 750 miles a WEEK, we are talking about a big difference in the amount I could profit on my expense checks for even an incremental gain. I'm not 100% committed to getting rid of the Volvo, but as Swank has noted, it is not exactly maintenance free itself...the commute begins mid-December and I happen to have some cash to spare to make the switch right now, so I'm looking at my options while I still can. The a Volvo does okay, but a boosted automatic 3500lb station wagon with an aggressive tune from the factory can almost certainly be beat...
