My wifes' 2010 Kia Sedona has a shake/shimmy, but only at speeds of 81-85mph...not that I'd ever go that fast or anything. At any other speed, it's fine. Frankly, the shimmy has been there for a while, I just haven't addressed it yet. It's only felt in the steering wheel, it's not like I can feel the entire front end shaking. It's also not horrible, but enough to be noticeable and annoying. Tire wear is fine, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm actually getting ready to put a new set of tires on it, which is why I figure it's time to address the issue sine I've got to bring it to a shop for installation/balancing/alignment. Van has 41k miles on it, no accidents, clean overall. Thinking a wheel balance issue (lost a wheel weight)? Want to address it because we've got a trip to Disney in a few weeks. It's 500 miles each way, and most of that is spent cruising the highway right in that sweet spot.

Sounds like you answered your own question when you said it needed new tires. Old, worn tires don't have to "look bad" to give you a shimmy at 85mph. I predict that a new set of tires, and a good balance will cure your problem. S simple rotation might.

Did you read the vibrations thread that no one commented on? I did and thought it was a great read. It talked about a device called a Sirometer that allows the user to determine the frequency and amplitude of a vibration. Then using some deductive reasoning, i.e. what speed are different vehicle components revolving at, you can figure out what's vibrating depending on what the sirometer is telling you.

Are you saying it goes away above 85mph? Then just push through it.

I can not confirm the results of such dangerous endeavors of speed.
