I read somewhere, probably here, that Subaru has a history of pushing back against issuing recalls and has had a truly large number of them that have been minimized by it.  I went looking for some sort of website documenting this or a list of recalls, but didn't find anything that gave any clear outlines of the recalls or anything like comparisons against other manufacturers.

Anyone have any insight into this?

Porsche pushed back against the IMS bearing failures.  All auto makers do it.  It's business.  Now if it's a huge public safety issue, they will always lose like the Pinto bumper bolts.

There was the very public outcry about the one person's '22 BRZ. But other than that. The '08 STi's got their recall because of crappy pistons and such.

You probably need to be a bit more specific than "Hey did something happen and did something happen in response"

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but is there a specific issue you're looking for?

Surely not head gaskets.

I distinctly remember someone just listing a litany of recalls that Subaru had, "multiple brake recalls they tried to avoid" or a similar phrase was mentioned on the post.

I was just looking for a comprehensive list is all.

They break it down by year and model. No idea if it's all encompassing or not, but should be a good starting point for research I would think

Be mindful that some people like to stir E36 M3.  For instance, you'd see "safety warnings" for first responders not to cut through the A pillar on X car (I have seen Saturn, PT Cruiser, Cavalier) because of a fire risk because they ran the fuel lines through the roof and pillars.

Note that no manufacturer ran the fuel lines through the pillars.

Or, my favorite, someone posted that Chevys were not Y2K compliant when they went to the dealership to look at a new 1999 Cavalier, and then they set the date to 2000, at which point the oil change reminder crashed and would not let the car start.  That one is fractally bullE36 M3.

What is amazing is that people will call out bullE36 M3 on things they know about, but blindly accept "secret facts THEY don't want you to know" in fields they don't.

Closest actual thing I can think of to a fuel line in a pillar is some of the older (70s and down) trucks had a looped fuel vapor line that ran up the rear post and back down to act as a vapor trap and allow for condensation to prevent liquid fuel from going straight into the charcoal cansiter.. and SOME of those same Era trucks had their charcoal canisters stuck up there, and the lines for such did run through the rear pillar. But again, this was the time frame as some trucks still having the fuel tank right behind the seat..so lines for EVAP junk in the pillars isn't exactly unexpected, is it.

In reply to GaryC83 :

60s Mopars had the vapor trap in the trunk, too.

Either way, people deliberately invent misinformation for lulz. When the PT Cruiser came out people said they were deathtraps because 30s styling meant 30s safety.

Nevermind the safety glass, seatbelts, airbags, collapsible steering columns, switchgear with no protruding switches (the reason why R50-up Minis have those annoying half-disks surrounding the window switches), etc etc.

Outback #1 254K on the engine..............it went to my brother in law and it ate the tranny about 3 years later.

Outback #2 currently 132K: It has had Takata airbag recall, a throw out bearing and a Crank Position Sensor started acting up yesterday. It does leak about 1/2 qt of oil between changes...................so does my Ford E250.

Imprezza 2.5 RS was at 198K when it was rear ended by a P/U which bent the trunk floor so it was totaled by the insurance company.

I'm am by no means a Subi fan boy as there are several things they do that I find annoying but it's not like they build Yugo quality cars.
