no, I don't think so. Back a couple weeks ago, the canoests exploited one or two holes in the system, and one of them got over 500 threads total. This one got this high because I had my first day to sleep in a bit in a while.

??? Hey, now. That's simply got to stop! Sleeping on the job? What kind of a way is that to justify your exorbitant moderator's salary?

it's right there in the username, y'all knew what you were getting as soon as I signed up.

not the whole day, I just have a hard time with mornings...

the screen cap is ~25 posts in ~7minutes. I think it was on the order of an hour and a half.
Looks like the Classic Motorsports forum could still use some help.
Thanks for keeping this site running!
Is there not a rule the devs could put in place to stop/pause this behavior? If only so sleepyhead can rest in peace?

That didn't come out right. Unless you're planning a hit? ;)
Oh and a big thanks to our Mods for helping to make this such a great place to hang out!

Got it, thanks!

Actually, if anything, getting up to mod has been good for me... put me on a 'more normal schedule' than I would have otherwise.
Currently I just happy to be positioned where {some time in my morning} seems to line up well with some of these attacks.
Could the devs make an exception code for the regular users? Specifically if the thread title isn't in English even regular users can delete it?

Y'all are a creative bunch. Only, so are the canoeists... and they have much more pressure/incentive to get through. In all honesty, the "post and edit in spam later" is a much more devilish bit to deal with.

I've actually been resisting the urge to talk to Tom about how to pull out a list of all the users with between X and N posts with join dates between Day1 and Day2... to then go through and check them for after-post spam edits.

Your efforts are most underappreciated IMO. Thanks Xmillion for what you do!
When I was moderating and then admining a local forum, I took a much more draconian approach... everybody from certain country domains/IPs were banned, period. Banning Russia, China, and Mexico cut canoeage down by like 99%.
In reply to Knurled. :
I should probably be honest, I'm over-posting in this thread on purpose.
also, I know that: ECM, the other mods, and the other staff are picking off their fare share. I just decided to take ECM's example and reply in the Canoe thread after reports.

I'm not sure that approach is all that effective in a world with cheap and easy access to VPN's and spoofing... and seems backed up by a site I've learned to use to check on some suspicious user registrations.
the good news is, I've got wood stock in hand to build a 'sleepyhead the buffalo' sized paddle... after learning on the first one above. So, perhaps with improved offensive paddling power we'll stay abreast of things this year?
finally, if I were a normal user, this post would put me into the ranks of UberDorkdom... a status I've managed in a ~ year and 2 months from arriving at SuperDork, which also places me onto the bottom of the front page of biggest dorks.
of course, I have little doubt that'd I'd've attained such lofty levels in so short a time without having been made a Mod. So, I don't bemoan that I won't have that appelation on my posts, nor any of the higher tiers. And having completely missed reaching 3000 posts, and noticing at about 3800posts at the beginning of 2020... I've been wondering of late, when and how I'd reach said perch.
And, lo and behold, this thread arrived. So, I didn't trash it after nuking the big spam today... and I apologize for the minor threadjacking. Thanks for being with me through the last year of learning how to Mod, and having patience while I began to find my footing.
