Fire Bad.
Yeah, could be. I haven't been watching the race.
Hope the jet dry guys wear fire suits. If not I bet they will be in the future.
In racing news today: Fire Fire Fire!
We can't embed videos here?

And, cages in the safety vehicles. Imagine if he had gone directly into the side of the safety truck...
Looked to me like his right rear locked up.
I don't usually make a point to watch Nascar, but on a Monday night, it's not bad entertainment!
Also, we've learned that fighting a fuel fire with water is not particularly effective. Looks as if they need to get some foam trucks.

Truth here. That's pretty dangerous. I am not usually one to say that, either, but that could have killed a guy, even without the fire, if that truck is mostly stock as far as the frame and safety structure goes.

Thank you! They were developing wipers and tires and whatnot like 15 years ago, right?

The issue it cars in the draft pushing the water back up the banking. If you are following a group of cars just a little too far, and bam! hydroplaning out of nowhere from the built up water rushing back down the bank.
Edit- They even ran a nationwide race (i think it was nationwide...) back like 2 years ago in the rain at a roadcourse.

The issue is, treaded tires on a 3500lbs stock car on 31 degree banking. The tires would not last very long at all, and would chunk from the heat. It's not feasible.
Absolutely.. multiple issues. We can be sure NASCAR would do ALL THEY COULD to get the cars on track on sunday. Gotta make the sponsors happy....
In reply to BobOfTheFuture: Trust me, I know YOU know about rain tires. I was directing more of my reply to people who don't understand rain tires.

"We're in the rinse cycle now"
Edit - and I think Danica just ran to the ladies' room... did you see her disappear?
I can't believe Jalopnik writers are that stupid. You would think they could talk to a Goodyear engineer and know the truth.
Jalopnik is terrible. I used to read them when they were only bad... its gotten worse.
Then there is this: "That's also how Tony Raines in the #26 Ford sponsored by Rick Santorum might manage to get on the podium. After the first rain delay in Daytona 500 history, random strategy, and a truck full of jet fuel catching on fire."

When was the last time you saw a podium at a NASCAR event anyway? If you ain't first, you're last!
