Trying to think of all the cars that were built for the purpose of satisfying a homologation requirement, but release to the general public for purchase and registered for the street. Fun fact: John Wyer's racing teams (such as Aston Martin and Gulf) used to drive their cars to the Le Mans track from the chateau they used as a base of operations. Until they started racing 917s. Then they discovered that the 917s would foul the spark plugs. A 917 has 24 spark plugs. And you have to remove the 12 cylinder exhaust system to get to them.

No more driving to the track.
