My sister's 2002 Honda Civic's autotrans has has gone out
She is not in my area so I can't look at it. I need someone with Civic experience to tell me what could be the issues with a Honda autotrans, and any recommendation for a repair shop in New Orleans.
The freak'n dealership told her she had incorrect gear ratios and that the ATC has malfunctioned (no #$%). What the...?
This is a stock car with no aftermarket gear ratios. Trans has never been touched. Car has 60K miles on it.
Help please
Thanks
N.O. get it to a shop above flood leval before gustav hits?
Has it had proper maintainance, ie. tranny fluid and filter work on schedual?

She has evacuated The city so the repair will have to happen after the storm...
But my sister follows every rule known to man. She actually follows the services outlined in the manual. Wish I could say I do.
If the Honda dealership said she had "incorrect gear ratios" it sounds like that dealership doesn't know crap....and/or is trying to rip your sister off.
A good place to find out info on ANY honda/Acura vehicle is www.Honda-Acura.net
I'm sorry to hear your sis is having probs with her Civic. I guess EVERY Honda model in the early '00s has this automatic transmission failure problem.
ok, question answered, but as I have heard many places, the auto tranies are hondas weak link.
hope things turn out well
honda automatics are every bit as bad as chrysler automatics used to be.
She should have thought this through when she was opening up her AT and changing all the gear ratios. It's hard to feel sorry for her now.
