So if any of y'all remember the thread a few days ago where I couldn't get my car to start.

The problem was this little plastic button.

Does anyone know if this is attached to the clutch switch itself or if the clutch switch pushes against this? Right now I am starting the car by reaching around the back of the clutch and depressing the switch but it doesn't feel like anything broke off the switch.

That is installed in a hole in the clutch pedal. You can replace it with a bolt and nut that won't disintegrate.

Is this referring to the clutch interlock system?

If so, look at the pedal assembly. IIRC, I had a similar problem with my '90 EF; the button fell to floor and (with a little adhesive) went back on the pedal - no problems since then.
