I know the Honda Odyssey has a history of transmission problems and I know the Saturn Vue uses the same engine. Does the Honda and Saturn share the same transmissions (including the AWD Saturn model? And two is the problem as big as the internet says it is? My fiance's Vue is approaching 100k miles and I am a little worried about how much longer it will last.

Thats a problem I would prepare for, but not worry about until it shows signs of failure.

EDIT: Although it appears you are doing that. LOL. No further advice.

I could be wrong, but didn't the Vue get a Honda V6 around the time the Oddy STOPPED having transmission problems? (If the Vue is newer than an '03, stop worrying.)

She's just a fiancee. Ditch her if the trans goes south. It's a sign from God.

Haha. Joking of course.

not sure how similar the transmissions were. I thought the VUE didn't go to a honda motor/aisin-warner trans until '04.

90% certain that the Saturn uses the same transmission.

Now that you mention it, I've never heard of a Honda-engined VUE having trans problems. I wonder if this is related to trans calibration. IIRC the problem with the Odyssey/Pilot trans isn't the trans itself so much as the torque converter self-destructing.

One really, really nice thing about the Honda engined VUE. No power steering pump. Makes any front-of-engine servicing loads easier than on a Honda.
