Is there any reason to pick one over the other as far as motorswaps go?
In reply to 93EXCivic: Twincam. I screwed up the engine names. I was trying to ask about the twincam non v-tech vs. the v-tech SOHC.
I would go for the DOHC ZC over the A6 but why not just grab a Z6 or ZC SOHC VTEC (the Z6 and ZC SOHC is basically the same engine). Both make more power and they are cheaper then ZC DOHC when I looked last.
then there si the black top vs brown top twin cam ZC's cant remember which was which but one made 10 hp more IIRC
Good luck finding a decent ZC! Mine blew up all over I-495, covering three lanes in oil, coolant, and gasoline. They closed the freeway right before rush hour.
The twin cams seem to be a little cheaper than the SOHC v-techs. Wikipedia says 130 hp for one, 127 hp for the other. Are there any big advantages with either version or should I just jump at whatever comes along at a good price first?

Black top was electronically controlled ignition advance and maybe a few other better things making ~10 more hp, like you said. Brown top was a vacuum advance.
I always thought the DOHC ZC was a totally undervalued engine. It's a pretty nice setup and with a little porting and some cams I think it could be really competitive with a B16.

So basically a D series is a D series and don't worry about it? Cool, I kind of thought so.

How high do they rev?

As if people working in and around DC do not spend enough of their lives trapped in their cars
With the standard Hi flow intake and exhaust you can expect about 116hp to the wheels on a DynoJet Dyno. Not a rocket but plenty of fun. I have put 80-100k miles on my ZC DOHC in the last 10 years almost all hard use. AutoX and then Track use. The advice I have always gotten is make sure the valves are adjusted, do the timing belt regularly and don't rev it over 7000rpm and they will last forever. I have a first gen Integra ecu which bumps the rev limiter to 7100 from I think 6800 with the original Si ECU don't really recall I have forgotten most of my Honda Fan Boi fun facts about my car. I always shift well before 7000rpm. The integra ecu it is supposed to be better suited to the DOHC and I have been told the original JDM ZC ecu will have a speed limiter at 112mph I think. Never had one cannot verify.
I chose the DOHC ZC because it was plug and play into my Si with just two minor wiring changes and spacing the engine mount on the drivers side to clear the timing belt cover.
In reply to LopRacer: So the valves aren't hydraulic?
I am also curious about using the ECU from a D15B2. My friend is looking for a sedan, so we're talking 91 hp stock. I should probably look for an Integra ECU even more than you.
Oh heck if I'm not mistaken the D15B2 only has 2 injectors and the ECU would therfore not be set up to work on D16 or a ZC that has 4 injectors. You would need an integra ECU or and Si Ecu to make it work, also swapping in a ZC or D16 into a D15 equip car means running a few more wires to wire the other 2 injectors.
As for Valve adjustments they are reccomended every 40 or 60k miles. I would have to look it up Honestly.
