As I posted in the "rants" thread, I blew out a tire on my Integra so badly that it bent the steel wheel.

Instead of going to the junkyard and buy another steelie, I trolled CL and found these:

acura_wheels

They're from a later Integra. 15" with 195/50R15, as opposed to the stock 14" with 195/60R14. So they should be fine.

Question is this... for some makes, alloy wheels require different lug nuts, with differently-shaped seats, than steelies use. Is Honda/Acura like this, or can I use the lug nuts from my steelies?

Thanks as always.

I am fairly sure that Honda uses ball-seat on everything.

Don't let the Internet know, but I've used ball-seat lug nuts on taper-seat wheels and never had an issue. Even open-tracked that way.

Third vote for no problem.

Wheels and tires purchased and installed. You folks were correct.

I always liked those Integra wheels a lot.

When I went to pick up my GSR, I sort of expected it to have those wheels on it. In 1998 they updated the wheels, and I liked the ones it had, so I kept them. Had HORRIBLE all season tires on it. Michelins, but they were some sort of OEM ghetto spec, obsidian compound tires that were short on grip and long on noise. They let go early and complained about it a lot. Not like a normal Michelin tire at all, which are generally top shelf.

Those crappy tires had plenty of tread on them when I ditched them for Yokohama AVS intermediates, sticky summer tires, the car was transformed, it is really pretty amazing what a difference good tires make.

How much lighter is one of the alloys than the steel ones, was it noticeable?

Dunno, haven't driven it yet. But seeing as the entire suspension was installed at the factory and not touched in the last 27 years, the tires aren't the weak spot in this car!

So, how much do you want for the car

I overpaid for the car, because it was in nice shape and I was helping a friend out. I'd be happy to get my $2500 back out of it, but nobody wants to pay that, so I figure I'll just keep driving it until I get my money's worth.

When they totaled mine, their initial offer was $5600, but they ended up having to give me another $1700 when I appealed it. This was 5 years ago, and it was fairly immaculate. I checked and it passed smog within a month after I turned it in to the insurance, so I figure somebody put it back on the road. I still miss that car sometimes. I figured to drive it another few years, then turn it into a track car, too bad.

Buy mine and turn it into a track car! It's a lot less than $7300!

I wish I would have remembered you wanted to sell this a couple weeks ago when I was looking for a car. I remember the story of how you got it and how clean it is.
