So bringing everything up current. I've secured tires. I texted a local member and asked if they had some 16 inch tires. Not only did they have some but they were on wheels with the correct bolt pattern for a great price. Only here can that happen. So I have a set of 245/70/16s with two Firestone Destinations and two Copper Discovery HTPs.
So Saturday Asa brought up the race. I think my friend is getting worried cause he started talking about my weight advantage and pushed hard to move it to street instead of dirt. I figure dirt is to my advantage so I didn't give in.
We did agree to shorten the race to 100 yards after estimating the top end speed on 1/8th mile. That should be to my advantage also.

Now it really is all about the launch
Berk. Race is tomorrow so I went to swap the smaller tires on. For future reference Isuzu 16 inch rims are sightly smaller inside than Chevy 16 inch rims. They rubbed on the rear calipers. Berk guess it's going to take my mad skillz at launching vs. old man treachery.

We expect pictures and videos to document this Hoon Fest
Any chance there is a Vegas line?

Pick up a pair of junkyard calipers and grind them to fit?

Take the calipers off zip tie out of the way.put a chunk of wood in them so the piston doesn't press all the way out and you've got pedal.
Anyway, I think you're overthinking it. Sub 300hp, high weight 4wd won't have much tire spin.unlesa you're talking muddy dirt. Hardpacked dirt road has huge grip in 4wd.
Yea I was going for better gearing and lower rotating mass with the smaller tires.
Let us know what the final set up is as it may affect the Vegas line. Right now my money's on you stampy man

Jump the start just very slightly, unless you have electronic sensors, who is going to know?
We've gotten serious now. Asa and I spent an hour cleaning out the bed and toolbox. Removed at least a couple hundred pounds between the trailer ramps, several trailer hitches, numerous ratchet straps, bolt buckets from the Q45, spare parts from other vehicles, and the large compost pile that was forming under the tool box. I think we're ready.
Remember, pedal it off the line. Don't let the adrenaline kick get you and flat foot it.
So this morning we went out looking for a dirt road my first couple of choices were blocked off but then I saw it. Not really a road but looked like an area they had already graded for a new subdivision. Most important no No Trespassing signs. We marked off 100 yards and tired to get into each other's head. I think I win that battle as he only lowers his rear tires pressure even though he was running in 4hi like me.
Ok first run we don't have video but I'm going to call it a tie. I had him off the line but he came on strong at the end. Glad I got him to agree to 100 yards instead of 1/8 cause there's no way I could even be close on the 8th.
Next run we moved Carol to the finish line to start us and judge winner. This is where he made his biggest mistake. As I launched forward he went backwards. He had left his truck in reverse. He tried to claim he was just trying to give me a win but we all know the truth. Here's the video from it.

So then one last run. He beat me. I'll admit it. But he didn't beat my ass. He won by a yard I'd say. But considering the first was a tie and the second I won by 100 yards I think I'm overall winner by 99 yards.

Oh, make him back up a little bit before the start. Maybe he'll leave it in reverse and forget.

I can't believe this worked
you gotta school the girlfriend on the proper way to take video with an iphone-always landscape!

Yea well she's been told and I appreciate you thinking I could pull a 28 year old hot girlfriend but at the same time I don't think her husband would like the idea.
Sounds like you guys had a good time! Love the amount of "tactics" and consideration/deliberation that went on for a random 100 yard race between two trucks - so GRM...
