So I was at the auction today looking for a Lexus for my friend's daughter and I ended up purchasing this....

It is a 1979 Datsun 210 5-speed with 51K miles and drum roll please A/C.

There is no way that I could not buy this...

I will update this thread as I clean it up to sell it. Unfortunatly with a 1976 Bronco, a 1999 M3, a 1991 Civic GRM challenge car and a 1994 SE-R track car I don't have room to keep it.

I passed a 210 wagon on the highway today. I hadn't seen one in years.

Amazing. Purchase price: Over or under $3000?

Awesome! Intact and suitably horrible hubcaps too. I love it.

Under 3k. I hope to get around 3500 for it when all is said and done.

IMO you simply can't go wrong with that purchase. The question is just how much money will you make? Good score and really cool.

That's awesome. If your wife leaves you because of that, she didn't deserve you.

Some research online revealed that this particular model was designed to maximize fuel economy and was the most fuel efficient car sold in the US in 1979. According to an ad I found online gets 47 hwy and 35 in the city.

I picked it up this morning and it drives great! I drove it approximatly 45 miles without issue. It keeps up with traffic fine but it is not fond of bridges. The a/c works well and all of the options work as they should. Once I got home I looked through the glove box and found the original window sticker, bill of sale, manual etc.. It looks to be a one owner car!

I won't be able to work on it for the next couple of days due the challenge car and work. I will try to take some more pics when I get a chance to work on it.

My dad had a pooh brown 1979 Datsun 210 Sedan with a 4-speed. That transmission had one of the best oars to row and I fondly remember doing head gaskets on every A14 equipped car we owned.

The great reliability of the Datsun 210 encouraged me to purchase a 1980 Datsun 310GX. I still have nightmares about that decision.

Wow! It's in amazing condition. You never see these anymore anyway. Back when I was in college though, every girl there had one of these, a Corolla, or a Vega deriviative. Very nice!

In high school a friends father stuffed a 4.1L Buick with a 4 speed in one almost identical to that. It was a pretty damn fun car!
