TDC said: Below is our official statement. There is absolutely no defending this situation or anything relating to it. There are points to be made on our end but it’s too late, the damage has been done and we are ready to move past this. Yes, it’s regrettable. Yes, it could have been handled differently and it should have. We can all agree on that. For the record, this particular project dates back over a year now. The issue was addressed and handled with the customer before. We are transparent in what we do and have no problem standing up to our end of the bargain. The customer was appropriately refunded as he rightfully should have been. For all intended purposes, we (including the customer) considered this issue closed and still do. This issue being paraded online for any purpose after the fact a resolution was reached is sadly regrettable. Speaking more in general terms, some of you guys have been following our work online or at our shop and know what we are perfectly capable of. Every business at one point or another screws something up majorly beyond the norm and we, along with every other business are not immune to that. Sometimes you hear about a business mishap on the forums, media, etc., and often you don’t for whatever reason. Sometimes businesses address their issues with their customer(s) and sometimes they flat out disingenuously don’t. If judging us negatively on our downfall despite our otherwise proven track record and how we resolved this issue with the customer before this was paraded online seems just and fair, then by all means do judge us accordingly. As stated earlier, we hold ourselves accountable and will not walk away from our responsibility. At the end when it’s all said and done, as a business, we learned, made amends and moved forward since. Rightfully so, this will be officially the last time this issue is publicly addressed by us regardless of statements or comments made by anyone other than the owner of the car. We don’t believe anything should be given to us or that we deserve any credit or mercy. What we can say is that we will continue to put out and present quality work and let such work continue to speak for our skills, ability and judgment in the hopes of regaining lost trust, reputation and momentum. With humility and respect, Top Dead Center

Now that's how a shop should handle the internet bashing their work, rightfully or not.

Are the shop owners from Clemson? Just wondering if that's the reason for some of the posts about why it would show up on the cscc forum. Just wondering if I know them as I went to Clemson and was part of cscc while I was there.

Haven't been on that forum in years.

Handled very well right there, but there is still no explanation for that kind of work for that price. I'm glad they refunded the guy his money, but holy crap, I wouldn't let that kind of work pass even as a joke lol.

It's interesting that the original post is by "Eat-Pez". He has a great reputation in the V8 RX-7 arena. Frequent contributer on v8rx7forum.com.

Agree, I think the response was very good. Not knowing the shop or those involved my gut tells me that this is a case of an employee whose skills may not have been up to level promised to his employer, of course that is pure speculation on my part.

Seems to me the TDC crew needs to come to a challenge to see how things should done right and on budget.

Yeah, I'm sorry but there's no excuse. The situation should have went like this:
TDC assigns mongo to the FD LSX swap since he says he's the shiznit. Two days later TDC shop foreman inspects Mongos work and notices the crappily welded upper radiator mounts and no lower bushings and says "hey Mongo, I notice the lack of bushings and the Fisher-Price mounts. This is just a mock-up, right"? Naturally Mongo grunts in the affirmative. A few days later Shop Foreman sees RTV oozing from the header gaskets and gives Mongo the walk of shame. Foreman kicks it into high gear to make up for lost time and delivers the car to the customer on time and on budget as promised.
TDC continues to get business because it's a reputable shop and Mongo joins my challenge team and I score .2 points in the concourse judging and my motor falls out of the passenger door during the auto-X.

Check the rest of the thread.

This is a year old issue, dragged up by someone other than the owner.

The owner is apparently satisfied with the resolution done, and is not bashing TDC.

Theodore makes a very good response

This is their new build project. Lets see how this goes.

I think I saw this on another site too. Didn't know someone other than the owner was making a stink about it. If the guy who got screwed is willing to say, "Hey no harm no foul" everyone else needs to drop it! Yes, that car is inexcusable. But TDC sounds like a real class act to me.
