What kind of hose is recommended for a remote mount oil filter? Current install (built by previous owner) is 3/8 rubber fuel line on brass barb fitting w/hose clamps. Fancy braided AN lines? There has got to be a better way...on a challenge budget.

Yes use AN or JIC fittings but don't use typical AN hose insteady measure your lenghts and get real hydrolic lines. There made to take both heat and presure at same time, most of the AN stuff is one or the other unless you get real $$. I know your thinking to many $$ will maybe if you had them made up it might be but instead buy them as new surpluss. http://www.surpluscenter.com/hydraulic.asp
Hit up your local yellowpages for a hydraulic equipment & supplies joint. The racing bits are nice and all but they're really not necessary. For your challenge budget, you could have custom lines made up by a hydraulics shop for a fraction of what they would cost you to build on your own from parts from Summit etc. Just tell them the length, size, fitting type and fluid type/temperature/pressure and you're set. For what it's worth most of them actually use Aeroquip etc, just their non-"racing" product lines which are probably the same thing. And you don't end up with cut up fingers from building your own hoses.
