What's the consensus on the newer BMW 3/4-series with the turbo four pots? Decent? Run away?
I'm looking at all kinds of stuff in California, and a newer 3-series with the 6-speed doesn't seem like a bad option (although I also like the 4-series Gran Coupes quite a bit, though that would mean living with the ZF 8-speed auto).
I've seen that you want to stay away from the N20s before 2015 because of timing chain issues but other than that not a whole lot.
It's not just early N20s, I've done chains on cars that had the timing recall performed. B48 is absolutely rock-solid though and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one.

Looks like a nice spec with sport seats!
Have you test driven one yet? Aside from the reliability aspect I could not a feel for the newish ones from behind the wheel.
