No mather how much i like my 06 legacy wagon, those base model micra start appearing for around 6500$ to 7000 canadian for a 5speed no a/c base model with about 70 000km (40k miles)
A 2 year old 6l/100km car is quit apealing. I never eard bad thing and they seems to have good handling as based on online reports.
So... what's the catch? Should i pull the trigger or not?
IDK. It seems that any Nissan product not sold to the USA is awesome.
Bad enough for a one make spec racing series in Canada.

Wait, I'm confused. How does a $6500 "new" Micra have 70,000 kms on it?
Do Canadians have a different definition of new?
They're not sold in the US? It's basically a Versa sedan, but shorter and stubbier. I'd say all the criticisms of the Versa sedan apply.

The micra is actually smaller than the versa note....nissan smallest current offering here

"New" as in "current model", perhaps?
I've gotta say that it makes a very tempting base for a build. A friend ("Ottawa" here on the forum) has actually been talking to the race car prep shop about getting a partial car built so he can have an awesome street car ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
Yes "new" as the micra was available in the 80's.
I didnt know it wasnt available in the US. That explain why i only found deedback of european versions...
I may go and test drive one!
Funny that 15 years ago US had all.the cool cars we didnot got like B13 ser and such. Time changes!
Ottawa's idea is very much aligned with my interests. [Not a sentence most Canadians got to use very much until the most recent federal election....] I've read a lot about the prep for the spec Micra cars, but most of it seems to involve taking stuff out/off, and I've never seen details about the "special NISMO suspension." Also, he might want to look into the March Nismo (available elsewhere in the world), which has some tasteful body add-ons that supposedly result in zero lift. Lastly, IIRC the Micra shares a platform with the Juke, so JY seat upgrades are theoretically possible.

They drive great for a little tin box. Really fun to drive. Think Mazda2/Fiesta. But with a nicer shifter feel.
The Micra is about the same size, weight and power of an A2 VW Golf. With the right suspension under it I see know reason why it couldn't be an entertaining little car. Potentially a good example of the "slow car driven fast" ethos.
Didn't Leslie have a car review of the Micra a month or so ago? It may be worth doing a search to find that post, if I remember correctly it was a favorable review.
Somebody in Canada needs to build a rally version of one of these little beggars. The Sprongls (I think it was them) used to rally an Aveo, so this is doable.
