There's another factor to consider: vehicle weight. "In general", the heavier the car, the faster you want spool-up because it's needed to get the thing moving. It's why most pedestrian OEM turbo cars give the fleeting feeling of "Oh may, this thing's going to fly...", then runs out of steam.

The opposite is true as well. If you have a very light car, you want the turbos to spool up slower, since the engine may already be capable of spinning the tires at low speed; having double the power there is pointless. Far better to have it start adding in gradually above that - and be sure to have it pointed away from mere mortals!

My Midlana build is in the second category, using a T4 GTX3576R on a Honda 2.4 liter engine.

My goal is around 2700 pounds.  With road racing wheel to wheel the launch is meaningless. I'll do it for my version of the challenge.  But once I do that I'm yanking the automatic and putting in the Seinz  racing transmission. I've got the 7&1/4" triple disk Tilton clutch and aluminum flywheel  but it won't fit in the challenge budget.
besides I think that transmission is about 1/2 the weight of the Turbo 400

Frenchy, at this point start a build thread for this car. You're opening new threads everyday with a different question but you regurgitate the same things and pics in every post of said threads.

I wish I could give you something fresh to look at.  Maybe I'll open the turbo's when they arrive?  I think I've already had pictures of the car.  For a while it's going to be budget limited while I shop for stuff. That's a big yawn isn't it?

Thread in the 2k challenge forum even if it's just some background and as you do purchases would be easier to follow.

No, just one thread to follow all your E36 M3. Most of us are interested in your build and willing to help.

You could start with that space you created for it last weekend.  You did clear out the space right?

This is how I operate. I need to ask my friends to remind me to work on my car. That's so I actually show up to events. They have been slacking. Maybe we can all help Frenchy.

Hey Paul ... have you worked on your car this week?

In reply to Stampie (FS) :

Yep just got everything put up so I can clear the aisle  for my truck. Once winter is over I'll shove the Jag on that space and start melting the undercoating, sound deadening. etc off.   Since I'm out of space the whole interior etc is going in the dumpster. Pity some is very nice and the leather can easily be treated and reused.

NOPE! Maybe I will pull the broken transmission this weekend.

There is almost no one doing turbo's on Jaguar's. One guy in Australia but he doesn't do anything except show pictures. My thinking is he has it done for him.

As I have said before, the build is started. It may not be exciting stuff, with sparks flying and pretty pictures but it's the important stuff, budgets, parts, shopping. Etc.

Having built as many race cars as I have, I understand priorities.  Now it's time for you to be patient

You'll see when I start my build thread. Couldn't get the car home last week due to Texas snow storm lol.

Until then, I'm hoping you can start a build thread so I can learn something.

I'm not sure what your goals are.  Mine might be completely different goals.
I can help a little bit on street stuff but my focus has always been on racing. To the exclusion of street ability. By the way, if you'd like any of my interior bits you can have them free. I'll even box them up for you.
Maybe my conversion from the Lucas system to Megasquirt will be of help ?  If so I'll share everything I learn.
