Just watching a Trofeo Abarth race and was wondering, how come we don't have a one make race like that? Also like England's Mini Cup. And no I don't mean NASCAR either, we had the NATCC, which was AWESOME and a damn shame it still isn't around but we could use the new Cruz, and then you could have a chance to get into ALMS or Grand Am.

I mean damnit, i'd love to get into that series lol

I guess that's what B-Spec, Spec Miata, Spec E30, etc. are for. Plenty of one-make races in the US, it's just that NASTYCAR is the 800lb. gorilla of US motorsport. The chances of seeing a one-make race of city cars or '80s family sedans on TV are next to nil, no matter how close the racing is. If Fiat 500s catch on here in the US, maybe they will become B-Spec eligible or get their own spec series.

Just gotta find the right corporate sponsor. In Canada in the 80's, we had the Honda/Michelin series, and the Players Challenge, which was Camaros and Firebirds. Players is a tobacco company, and when they lost the ability to advertise, we racers lost a great friend.

I really can't imagine why we couldn't have a modern Honda/Michelin deal.

Don't forget about the VW TDI racing- I hate Volkswagens, even more than I hate diesels, but you gotta give them credit.

Well, I actually kind of meant an amatuer level but like the GP2 to F1, kind of that way. Like the manufacture is behind the series and racers that do good get to move up to professional deals. I mean I know we have the Spec E30 and Miata and such.

Yeah I wouldn't see why not, kids are drinking and smoking anyway so I don't see really why it matters anymore but sadly yeah, the other countries don't have that gorilla....lucky them

But as the 500 is getting press and with them and Dodge together I think they could make a series with them and make it popular. I just need to brush up on my track days and sign up first when they do lol

Personally Id just like to see races where you turn both ways on major network TV. I understand the allure of Gofastturnleft Racing, but we have some a-berkling-mazing racetracks in the US that never see the light of day. Road Atl, infineon, LAGUNA SECA!!! I mean those are entertaining tracks. They could run power wheelchairs down the Corkscrew and it would have to get better ratings than the next season of Americas Best Ventriloquist on Fox. I would punch a nun to see an ameriican version of BTCC on American tracks. Hell, Id take vacation days and pay hard earned cash to get into VIR for primetime racing if it was getting NASCAR-esque money dumped into it.

I agree, but that part is what I actually was gonna say, maybe even the punching a nun part too. But with thenew NGTC rules, I think that's the saving grace of BTCC! Almost bringing back SuperTouring! The cars are faster, family cars as even they want to get away from the hatchbacks, just doesn't say 'touring car', way cheaper and just better overall and there are so many new teams joining because of the NGTC, even Audi's back! Even the new teams realize the 90's were the E36 M3 in BTCC so they were waiting! I would be punching lots of nuns if we had something like that....

Porsche would love it. They try to create race series all the time that favor the Porsche.

I'm not a fan of any one make race because it just ends up being an ad campaign for that company.

Star Mazda is a stepping stone to Indy cars and other series.

Yeah, I thought we had several.

If you're looking to get involved, you have many many choices of amateur spec series.
