Electrolysis is neat but if you don't have a sandblaster you can always get out the old wire wheel brush for a grinder. Some of these work quite well.

Does it take a few days for all solutions as suggested here? My guess it that it doesn't but I am new to electrolysis.

I usually just put stuff in the bucket for 8 to 12 hours.
I tried the vinegar, it does work, but I had to leave it in there for an extended length of time, and it didn't remove all the rust. I bet it would work for small items, but I'll try to electrolysis next
