What do we think about upping the boost a bit with a tune? Bad idea with the open deck? Or good idea, if one keeps it reasonable. Say, like 50 extra hp?

I bought mine specifically because I wanted to own a car that I would leave completely stock and enjoy stock-like levels of reliability. Including the tune. It's sufficient. It's not mind blowing, but today I drove a Pro Touring-style Torino that had more power than NASCAR Torinos had, and have driven 1200hp drag cars, nothing is mind blowing anymore. This is what it takes to get me to normal.
Internet says a mild tune is safe. The block doesn't really become a liability until you get to the level where you need to upgrade other things like the turbo and injectors. The main thing is some peoples' blocks were failing at stock levels, so some people will shim their blocks as a matter of failure prevention, although my observation is that it seems to be a "it'll fail or it won't" at stockish levels.
As others have pointed out (and I do apologize for dominating your thread, but I was out sick yesterday and I was bored and antsy) if you want a speed dominator machine, this is not the car for that. It's a Q-ship not a rocketship. Glancing at the 1/4mi times thread on swedespeed's R forum, the best time is a pathetic low-12 time for an alleged 572whp car. If you want to have a really fast car, there are much better options. If you want a moderately fast car that exudes calm, cool, subdued luxurious style, then you're looking in the right direction. This is the road equivalent of playing Gran Turismo from a Barcalounger. I say this because my stepdad had a prized Barcalounger and it was the only other butt-reception device (aside from the seats in my S60R) with comfortable leather. Everything else, be it Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, whatever, just feels like hard stinky vinyl in comparison.

Ha, no worries. You're posting valuable info. I have this idea that ~10lbs/hp is a good ratio for a car. Internet says that the S60Rs weigh like 3500lbs so I figure it should have 350 hp. Comfy + quick is something I've recently become enamored with. At least since driving my buddy's 2014 S6. I REALLY like the turbo + V8 noises that car makes. And the effortless speed was pretty rad too.

I have bad news for you... They weigh more like 3800lb. But hey that is 400lb less than a new Fusion, so as far as modern cars go it's light. I guess.
With a stock everything you do not really hear much of anything. When I replaced the steering shaft, I accidentally misaligned the sealing boot and I instantly noticed that the turbo was now audible on the first drive. I left it that way Mostly you hear a little wind noise and road noise and only a tiny bit of muted howl. Kind of like watching old Audi S1 E2 rally videos but with the sound turned way down and cotton in your ears. You know it's there and it makes you smile but it also doesn't hurt.
I have been thinking about selling mine in the spring, but today I went on a drive through some windy hilly local-ish roads that I last experienced in my Golf on AVS Intermediates (so it's been a while) and it kinda startled me how in mildly spirited driving, the controls lighten up a lot and the car just seems to sharpen up. Didn't feel like driving a tank in the least.
Maybe it's because I used "Advanced" for the first time other than accelerating spiritedly up an on-ramp...
Still not used to the concept of accelerating out of understeer so the computers can do their job.
