YES!

And never listen to anyone who whines about the optispark.  The optical pickup is wicked accurate and bulletproof, and it does a mighty fine job of lasting a long time while still being a traditional cap/rotor device.  What kills them is the water pumps often weep a little... right onto the cap.  The solution is to just jb weld a 1" piece of brake line in the weep hole and stab a piece of vacuum hose on it to route the weeping elsewhere.

Do a hardcore coolant flush and refill with plain green coolant.

There.  You've fixed everything that can go wrong.

The brakes are more than adequate, the 8.5" rear can take some serious power, and the aftermarket for B-body suspension is booming.  Parts are dirt cheap.  Those seats are sofas.  The cargo area is big enough that you have to have your spelunking license to enter it.  Me, Wae, and eastsideTim beat the snot out of my old  150k-mile Impala SS at the challenge one year, including a bunch of pro-runs because the first three got yellowed.  Even after like 5 back to back pro runs, the only carnage was that the power steering fluid got a little hot.  It then made multiple drag runs and drove home to KY the next day.
