Factory redline please.
What does factory redline matter if I don't have factory gears in the trans or rear, or factory tire size?
Is that the redline for the original engine for the car, the redline on the tach, when the engine is at the speed that redline on the tach is marked at, or the redline for the engine that was swapped in? If it's an amalgamation of parts, can I assume that I am the "factory"? I have a soft redline of 9500 but have seen 11k in an emergency. At those levels, the engine drops down to the redline on the tach after a shift.
interestingly, second is still good for roughly the same speed as OE, thanks to all the jiggery pokery.
also interestingly, the tach on every '81-85 RX-7 that I have owned was ten percent off. 7000 indicated (redline) was 6300 actual.

Lake effect?
(Lake effect is the reason for everything, from odd weather to the Browns accidentally winning a game.)
I recall the STI being "slower" than the WRX some years because 0-60 required two shifts. Nobody considered the 0-50 or 0-70 times.
And then there was my Quantum that required three shifts to get to 60. Redline was about a thousand RPM higher than the engine would actually rev at full throttle. Needless to say, 0-60 was an "eventually" sort of thing. I think it ran mid-22s in the quarter mile.

That is exactly, word for word, my story. My 67 was a 4door hardtop...
BMW is 73mph at 7200rpms and it's done that many times
Jeep is 60mph at 5000rpms and it's never been close to that

Which one? You think most people here have just one car......
Fair enough, which ever one you'd like.

Metallic green with a black vinyl roof. 283, so the 125 might be a bit optimistic. Let's say 110.
Last car I knew this answer for was my S10. 55 in second if I was being abusive. The 4.3 made good tq, but it wasn't much for high rpm. the old duratec zx3 would do close to 65. I'm thinking the Mercury would be quite high but it has no tach and I'm not about to guess when the plugs are about to eject.
