I know that for a lot of you this board is social. That is true for us as well.
But it is so much more than that. Three times, I have reached out on this board for some help; once when I was screwed up with an old car in Idaho and twice now, when I needed something to heavy to ship, taken to our friends in Holland Michigan, at Eclectic Motorworks. There is a secret pipeline that goes from Holland MI to Carlisle or Hershey, where it is easy for us to get stuff home.
Anyway, thanks most recently to Tom Lay, who picked up my quarter panel in Chicagoland and took it safely to Holland.
I really don't know how I could survive without this board. Thank you all, for your wisdom, camaraderie and helpfulness.
Hope to see all of you at this year's $2015 Challenge event coming up in a few weeks.

Having done nothing at all, you're welcome.
Photos make for more interesting threads. Here's the quarter of a lotus that's making its way down to us.
And, again, thank you for hosting this forum.
Have you talked to Margie lately? If not...don't.
This forum has saved my butt several times. Really nothing else like it on the web. Very good people here!
Board is awesome. Has helped out with every car purchase I've made in the past.

I love this place! Why do you think I'm always here?
Yes, we get occasional bouts of negativity, but overall this board rocks. I travel a bunch, and it's always good to know I have a safety-net of weirdos....I mean enthusiasts ready to help in case a wacky automotive adventure goes awry.
The depth of knowledge found here-- concerning a wide variety of subjects--is pretty amazing too.
It will be fun to see (hopefully) lots of you at the Challenge!
Oh yeah, and this guy will be there too---- -which is pretty cool!
Oh yeah, and this guy will be there too---- -which is NOT cool at all!

But sadly, the Stig's aristocratic cousin with the odd beard will be far too involved in fixing his Mercedes to attend.
This board did successfully find me a autox co-driver on less than 12 hrs notice!
Connecting Mazdeuce to the CTS-V chief engineer during the OneLap and getting Tuna the exhaust (at least I think that's what it was) are proof of the power of this board.
In reply to Ed Higginbotham:
Holy cow- you are actually doing it.
Good luck, and I really look forward to the articles. They should be a very interesting read.
Wow. When you said quarter panel you really meant it!

Indeed. More like a quarter of a car than a quarter panel.

People are going to have to work on their excuses: "if only it was closer" doesn't cut it with a GRM pipeline.
What we get from the board is greater than the price of schlepping a part around every now and again, and for that you guys deserve a lot of credit. So if you need something and I'm in a position to offer help, you got it.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: This is the BEST car message board/car community on the internet. Nothing else comes close.
If you have a question about anything, and I mean anything, there's someone on here that can provide a straight-up, insightful, and informative answer. I've gotten advice on things ranging from what brake pads I should throw on my daily driver Mazda 3 to how to fix my old washing machine and where to buy the part. And I usually had the answer in about 5 minutes!
The other thing that's truly great is the people. I've met many of you down at the Challenge, and I've made some pretty good friends down there, including some of the GRM staff themselves. We really have a great community here.

4 times, I recall a certain pinball machine that got moved by this board for you as well :)
I wonder how many people are on here that are (automotively famous) and enjoy posting on here with the rest of us in anonymity? Just regular guys (or girls) and no BS. I'd like to think that I may have talked with someone like that and didn't even know it. I dig the idea of that.
One more reason I love this place added too the list.
The only reason I took my computer on the Lake Superior trip, was for the list of guys that could and probably would help if the truck puked in the middle of nowhere. I'm glad I didn't need any of you. I'm equally glad that list exists. It adds an amazing amount of peace of mind to any trip.
The worst of us is better than the best of a lot of places on the net.
Yeah, read that again, I had to type it twice.

That blew me away. Totally cool that the GRM folks pulled that one off!

Love this board and all the makers and their projects on it.
This board is a terrible influence. How do you think things like this happen?
