1- No I don't own a Mazda because the ND is not worth the 45k they are asking and their salespeople are even dumber than Nissan or Scion salespeople.

2-Too many. I have tried to stop being the "Car Guy" in the office and family so that I don.t get pestered so much. Then again, it might be a Costanza thing where they just ask my opinion so that they can do the opposite.

  1. Yes, I currently own a 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata. Owned three other Mazdas in the past. Always looking for a RWD GLC.
  2. Maybe a 5-10 people a year do I provide car buying advice to, but who knows how influential I actually am.

I own three Mazdas.

I spend all day helping people decide what to buy. Granted, by the time they talk to me they already know they want a Miata of some sort, just not what year.

  1. Yes

  2. Try to when I can. Tried to get my mom into a CX5 but pricing just worked out better for a Nissan Rogue. Tried to talk my sister into a Mazda3, but she bought a turd of a Sentra instead. Anyone that wants something practical but still fun a 2 or 3 is what I recommend. Otherwise it's always Miata.

No Mazdas at the moment, but I've had 3-4 of them.

Yeah, I'm the "car guy", so everyone consults me on vehicle purchases. Probably 10-20 people.

  1. Yes currently own 2 mazda's, and owned another one previously. FWIW my sister and brother also drive mazda's

  2. I had input on my brother's Mazda3 purchase. Did not have any input on my sister's CX9 purchase but I think she knew that my brother and I liked our mazdas. My dad always refers to me on car advice/purchase.

1: No Mazdas now, but I've owned more Mazdas than any other marque.

2: Including me? About 0.75, ±1. I did suggest the in-laws consider a Mazda 5, and they ended up with a Tribute, so there's that, I guess.

I actively try NOT to give car-buying advice to people who ask.

People don't actually want advice - they just want to have the decision they've already made affirmed by "the car guy".

1) Technically 4 though only 2 of them have motors in them right now and I doubt either of those would start without a lot of work.

2) As often as possible but I normally steer people to used cars as I think the buy in on new is a bit cray cray. Regardless I have often found that non-car people will buy what they think looks good without even test driving alternatives. Crazy non-car people.

  1. Yes, a '91 Miata. Had a '95 Miata prior to that.

  2. About 10. My best friend's wife bought a Mazda6 and my mother-in-law bought a CX-5 at my suggestion.

So if you could just go ahead and give me the employee discount on a new Mazda3, that'd be greaaaaat.

Thanks everyone. I wanted to add up everyone's responses and then calculate an average, so a hard and fast guess is better than "many" or a lot or 5-10. thanks.
