So, with the Miata suspension in place, this is going to be just a tad to much HellaFlush to get away with. E36 M3 rubs on the stock arches.
I will most likely need to do surgery to the arches; I need a half an inch front and rear. Not a huge deal.
Before I do cut, I was wondering what kind of wheel offset I can try out that won't mess with the fundamental goodness of Miata geometry. An explanation of what happens when I go too far would also be welcome.
Your camber curves won't change. Neither will the roll center control if my brain is working.
You will change your scrub radius. More steering feel and kickback. Most importantly, a half inch (12mm) is nothing. Most of us run street setups that have at least that much change. Just go with it.

Very cool explanation
Miata wheels are already high offset at 38 mm and you want more offset? Wheels may be hard to find if you're looking at adding another 12 mm. I'd stretch the wheel wells and stick to 38 mm offset. That's a commonly available spec. When I switch to my 7" wheels and 30 mm on my Miata it is noticeable, not a bad change, just noticeable from the stock offset wheels I run in the winter.I find the car just feels better on the stock offset wheels.

Yeah, but you have to change the offset if you want to run manly tires and not pizza cutter all-seasons.

Thanks. As mentioned, the wheels might not even exist, but I want to have all my options on the table.
