when i had the falcon picked up. i had to stop by the garage of the tow truck company to pay the bill. i was talking to the owner and told him i buy cars and asked if he had anything and he told me to look in the garage the car in there was for sale.....
this is the car/truck he had for sale it is a 1979 Ford Ranchero his father bought it new it has just 60,000 miles on it. it is fully loaded with all options. his father passed away in 2001 and the car has sat in the garage since then. NO RUST at all the only real problem with the car is the bottom of the leather seats need recovered or the seat needs replaced. they just flushed the fuel tank and changed the fluids thats it but she runs great.........i bought this car but was wondering what you guys would give for it if offered to you. i will tell you one thing i paid over challenge price for it.

Not a ranchero fan. Especially malaise era ones.
I'd pay $150?
ehh. Lets see scrap value is about $400 for it. Since it runs, I'd say $750. It's one of those cars that just because it's old doesn't mean it's valuable.

Is saying youre not saying a word actually saying a word? Kinda like how choosing to do nothing is still a choice? Where's Philoso-raptor when you need him?
Cutter, that's a very nice one of those. I like Rancheros, but if there was one body style I'd walk on, it's that one. Maybe you should shine it up and get most of your money back.
Looks clean enough for an easy fix and detail. Some old Ford guy will prolly want to save that for a project or cruise night. No idear on price.

I'm not a fan, but it would sell in the South.
Clean it up, put a Rebel flag on the back window, and you should be good to go.

well i have turned down a $500.00 profit already with one phone call. if you look ther car up a #1 example is 17k to 20k a #2 is 7k to 9k a #3 is 3k to 6k. this is a 1979 1/2 the last one built if you notice it has the vinyl top and leather interior the dead give away of the half year production model.
do i like these cars not at all but i do know a lot of people that just love them (by the way they hate what i like).....so offen i see guys push a car out of the way to get to something they like and pass up the real money maker.
i will do very well with this car no doubt in my mind

Personally, I really like that body style, but I also own a malaise era American car, so I'm a bit off.
I'd probably have given $1500 or so for it and had the seat bottom reupholstered, detailed the car and thrown it on eBay with some high quality photos and a good description.

Yep. And you seem to have a flair for the business, cool. No doubt you will make a profit on that one as well.
Can't say I have the flair. Quite the opposite it seems actually.

I see what looks like rust on the bumpers and inside of the bed. If it's just surface rust, I'd take care of those rust spots, consider replacing or recovering the seats and detail it for a half a day with a buddy and you supply the beer. Then it's flipping time. (But I'd actually rock the E36 M3 out of it. Since it before my time, I thinks it's just ugly enough that it's cool.)
I personally would go about 2k. Then drop abt 6k in it. Change the entire drive train. Get a wild suspension. Paint it flat black with black wheels. Then attempt to drift it... Hit a wall and sell it at a loss.
Too honest?

Yeah, Rush said something like that. You've heard of Rush, right?
$5?
i could never get over the ugly. the front jay leno chin bumper doesnt do the car/truck bodystyle justice.
more power to you if you can profit. i'd have taken the quick $500 though. i'd rather wash my hands quick for 500 profit than sit on something and work on it to get more from an unknown buyer that may be down the road.
i can't count how many times i've taken a free-$500 car and turned it in a day or two for $200-750 profit instead of doing the planned repairs and asking $1250 sometime down the road.
That's a $3500 car down here. Not my cup of tea, but people seem to like them.

I was thinking 2500....
It is still based on the T-bird platform. Looks like a 302/C4 combo, needs more 545/557 BBF and a C6.

i agree with this most of the time. but then there is the car that comes along that for a little money put into her you can make a good score. my interior guy will charge me $200.00 for the seat. i have located the oem bumpers at 100.00ea if i go that route and it needs 400.00 in touch up paint work and then it will be a #2 car. i have the car detailed for $125.00. with the investment of this money i will double my money.
the biggest thing with flipping cars is you dont have to love them or even like them. any pre 80's car is worth something when it is low mileage and unmolested and if its strange all the better

no its built more on the LTD II platform and its a 351 in her

Same difference. I'd rather have the 302, given the 351 is smog era and 2V carb'd.
by your description i expected it to look nice. plus, every car looks good in internet pictures, don't they? it's when you get two feet away from it that you get the reality check.
so i was somewhat surprised when your photos revealed an undesirable car in ho-hum condition.
all you have to do is replace everything, and it'll be like new.
in answer to your actual question; I'm a car dealer. In my neighborhood, that's a $1,500 sled.
No love for the Chero in here, wow, that car has full gauges which makes it a GT I believe.
Not my favorite style but I always loves me some UTE.
